7:45-8:30 Neworking

Susan Ware (class of 1972) is a pioneer in the field of women’s history and is a leading feminist biographer.  She will be talking about the career of Molly Dewson (class of 1897), who was the head of Democratic women's politics in the New Deal in the 1930s.  Dewson's relationship, known as a Boston Couple, with another woman, Polly Porter, inspired the title of her biography Partner and I: Molly Dewson, Feminism, and New Deal Politics (Yale University Press, 1987).  Molly and Polly are also characters in her book of suffrage stories called Forward into Light (forthcoming from Harvard University Press in 2019) timed for the centennial of the Nineteenth Amendment in 2020.  To learn more, visit www.susanware.net
