From the President...
Dear WCAB members,
We hope this newsletter finds you well, and that you had an opportunity to enjoy plenty of recreation with family and friends this summer. With great pleasure, we assumed the roles of WCAB Co-Presidents over the summer, and are honored to be working with the College’s Alumnae Association to promote and strengthen your ties to one another and to Wellesley. We would like to thank Tracy Boehme, our outgoing President, for her excellent service to the club, and we are thrilled that Tracy will remain on our Board as a Co-Chair of Programming. As your new Co-Presidents, we are committed to addressing your needs and your diverse interests, and we encourage you to reach out to us or to any of your WCAB Board members at any time with your thoughts, suggestions, and hopes for our club.
At this time, your WCAB Club is planning a mix of social, professional development, and community service opportunities for the upcoming year. We are happy to announce that, in addition to our very popular Metro-west dinner group, Boston lunch group and networking brunch group (we Wellesley women do seem to enjoy breaking bread together!), we will have a new Cambridge/Somerville- area dinner group launching this fall. Our WCAB Book Group will continue to meet, and our WCAB Alumnae Admissions Reps will continue to support the College in its efforts to bring the best and the brightest to Wellesley. We have also planned a Fall Reception and Networking meeting where we can come together as a larger group, and, of course, our ever-popular Holiday Party.
Our goal is to make sure that Boston-area alumnae will have ample opportunities to connect with the College and with each other at all life stages. Look for WCAB’s email “blasts” twice a month for up-to-date information on the latest events and activities. Supporting, mentoring, and collaborating with one another is a key benefit of being a Wellesley alumna.
Of course, our programming, scholarships, and book awards would not be possible without your volunteer efforts, dues, and additional contributions. While we collaborate with the College in supporting the needs of Boston-area alumnae, WCAB does not receive funding from the College. To the extent you are able, we hope you will choose to support the club by registering as a dues paying member a thttp://boston.alum.wellesley.edu (“Support Our Club” tab.) And if you can volunteer for WCAB (whether for just a few, or many hours) please email us at email@example.com.
Most importantly, please join us at our events! We would love to meet you and spend time with you!
Yours in Wellesley Spirit,
Joanna Jung ’90 and Jane Materazzo ’83
